This class will provide basic information for growing herbs in your
existing landscape or in containers. In
the lecture approximately 50 herbs will be discussed.
A list of herb plants, tips on when to harvest and how to preserve
herbs, as well as other written information will be included, along with a

This class covers how to select and grow the many varieties of
lavender available in the Pacific NW. A
list of the lavender plants currently for sale in Oregon will be provided and samples will be shown. There will
be examples of some of the culinary, fragrant, and ornamental uses of
lavender. Directions and recipes will be included to make your own lavender
gifts at home, or in an extended workshop at the nursery. A garden tour may also be included, especially when the

Basil was chosen as “Herb of Year for 2003” by the
International Herb Association and The Herb Society of America. This class will cover how to grow basil in our climate and give tips on how to get the most from your own plants. Included in this class, will be a list of the different basil
varieties. Learn how to select,

This class will feature some of the culinary, fragrant, and ornamental
uses of rosemary. View the rosemary
in our garden and the displays in the classroom to discover some of the ways
you can bring the scent and the taste of rosemary into your home and garden.
You will know why rosemary is the “herb of remembrance.”
A list of rosemary plants, tips on how to select and grow them, as well

There are over 700 species of Salvia, but only a few that are used for
culinary or medicinal purposes. This
class will feature Garden Sage, (Salvia officinalis), and other favorite
varieties that are available in NW Oregon.
You will receive “sage advice” on how to grow and use these salvias
in your garden and in your kitchen. Plant
lists, selection guide, information, and recipes are included.

Herb of the Year for 2006! Pelargonium is the correct name for these highly scented plants in the
geranium family. We sell around 20
of our favorite rose, lemon, mint, fruit and spice-scented varieties. This
class shares information on how to grow and use these fragrant herbs.

Thyme is a beautiful, evergreen perennial. Among the many species that are available, there are around
15 that we enjoy for culinary purposes and many more that we enjoy
growing for their beauty in the landscape.
This class will devote some “time” for information on the culinary,
fragrant, and ornamental uses of this hardy perennial herb.
Use the plant list, selection guide, information, and recipes to
include thyme in your home and garden. Sample

Herb teas, herb vinegars, herb oils, fresh and dried herb blends, as
well as edible herbal table decorations and ideas for the holidays, will be
included. You may choose to make 3

make your own fragrant and ornamental creations for gifts from your herb

simmering potpourri, moth sachets, bath bags, sleep pillows, pomanders, tree
ornaments, tussie mussies, as well as fragrant herbal table decorations and ideas for the holidays, will be included. You

Learn the traditional method for making dry potpourri, from picking and preserving the materials, to mixing
and creating your own unique blends.

In this workshop you will learn to make either a round or heart-shaped wreath from an 8 inch wire frame. Cover the frame with your choice of moss, dried flowers and herbs from our gardens, and add ribbons if desired. Complete one wreath and learn different ways to create wreaths with dried materials from your own garden. All materials will be included to make one wreath.
